APRIL 2008 - REDBELT

My score to David Mamet's Redbelt will be out in theaters on May 9th

Synopsis:
Set in the west-side of Los Angeles fight world, a world inhabited by bouncers, cage- fighters, cops and special forces types, Redbelt, is the story of Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a Jiu-Jitsu teacher who has avoided the prize fighting circuit, choosing instead to pursue an honorable life...

"The resonant stillness he brings to Redbelt pulls you in. Mamet is on his game, and that is a sight to see."
Peter Travers RollingStone

"Eminent writer-director David Mamet says that his new movie, 'Redbelt,' is in essence an 'American fight film, an alternative samurai movie.' That explains the Japanese taiko drumming that makes a dominant motif in composer Stephen Endelman's evocative score."

Grammy-nominated composer, arranger and producer Stephen Endelman is a diverse artist whose work ranges from lush, classical film scores to contemporary, pop-driven aural tapestries.

"Stephen Endelman's dramatic folk-influenced melodies have a touch of the great Max Steiner (Gone With The Wind, Casablanca) about them. Endelman's scores resonate with
yearning and dispair"
